B. Radiator
Clean the screen, and radiator fins of any obstruc-
tions with a stream of low-pressure water.
If ins ects or m ud can no t be com pletely remov ed,
it should be cleaned by an authorized Kawasaki
dealer.
NOTICE
Using high-pressure water, as from a car
wash facility, could damage the radiator fins
and impair the radiator ’s effectiveness.
Do not obstruct or deflect airflow through
the radiator by installing unauthorized ac-
cessories in front of the radiator or behind
the cooling fan. Interference with the ra-
diator airflow can lead to overheating and
consequent engine damage.
Coolant
Coolant absorbs excessive heat from the eng ine
and transfers it to the air at the radiator. If the coolant
level becomes lo w, t
he engine overheats and may
suffer damage. Check the coolant level each day
before operating the vehicle, and replenish coolant
if the level is low.
Change the coolant in accordance
with the Periodic Mainten a nce Chart.
NOTE
A permanent type of antifreeze is installed in the
cooling system when shipped. It is colored green
and contain s eth y
lene glycol. It is mixed at 50%
with water and has a freezing poin t of –35°C
(–31°F).
Coolant Level Inspection
Situate the vehicle on level ground.
Remove the fron
t access cover. Refer to the
“Front A ccess Cover” section in the “GENERAL
INFORMATION” chapt er.
Check the cool
ant level through the coolant level
gauge on the reserve tank. The coolant level
should be between the “F” (Full) and “L” (Low)
marks.

el when the engine is cold (room or
atmospheric temperature).
