WARNING
The exhaust system can get extremely hot
during normal operation and cause serious
burns. To avoid a serious burn, never touch
a hot muffler or exhaust pipe during oil drain-
ing.
•
With the vehicle level, apply the parking brake se-
curely.
•
Place an oil pan beneath the transmission case.
•
Lift the cargo bed and support it with the hook.
•
Remove the o il filler plug and O-ring.
•
Remove the oil drain bolt and gasket.
WARNING
Transmission oil is a toxic substance. Dis-
pose of used oil properly. Contact your lo-
cal authorities for approved disposal meth-
ods or possible recycling.
WARNING
Oil on tires can make them slippery which
can cause an accident and injury. When
draining or filling the transmission case, be
careful that no oil gets on the tires or rims.
Clean off any oil that inadvertently gets on
them with soap and w ater.
A. Oil Drain Bolt and Gasket

After the oil has completely drained, replace the
drain plug gasket with a new one.
•
Install the dr
ain plug with the new gasket and
tighten it to the specified torque.
Tightening Torque
Transmission Case Oil Drain Bolt:
15 N·m (1.5 kgf
·m, 11 ft·lb)

Fill the transmission case u p to the “H” (High) lin e
on the dipstic k with high q uality oil as specifie d in
the table.
